Parnelli Vel’s V-Wing Indycar was created after seeing this car after its restoration by Chuck Jones, Vintage Indy Registry (VIR) member and racing history enthusiast.

It was presented at auction during the inaugural VIR event at the 2018 Indycar race weekend at Gateway Raceway (now World Wide Technology Raceway)  in Madison, IL (across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, MO). Proceeds benefitted the Variety Children’s Charity.

The original is with the car; both are still with Chuck Jones.

This car, the VJP-1 was driven in the 1972 Indianapolis 500 by Joe Leonard.
