McLaren’s Return was inspired by McLaren Racing’s return to the 2019 Indianapolis 500 with 2x F1 Champion and McLaren F1 team driver, Fernando Alonso for his second attempt at completing the Triple Crown of motorsports (winning the Monaco Gran Prix, 24 Hours of LeMans, the Indy 500).

Sadly, Fernando did not survice Bump Day’s elimination by Kyle Kaiser of Juncos Racing, who bumped out Alonso by 0.0129 seconds.

The painting features the McLaren Dallara IR12 in the McLaren colors. My previous Alonso painting featured his first Indy 500 attempt with the Spanish flag as a background. This time the colors of the Spanish flag created the apex of Turn 1 at IMS.
