About this Artwork
“Two Strikes of the Viper” was inspired by Dodge Viper’s IMSA success. This commissioend painting features the 2000 Rolex 24 Hours winner – #91 Viper GTS-R and the 2014 IMSA Season Champion – #93 (2014 Dodge Viper GTS-R), in the GTLM Class.
The 2000 car was a milestone for Chrysler. For America as well. February 6, 2000, the #91 Viper GTS-R won the GTO class victory and Overall at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. It marked the first such international win for Dodge and by an American-based production car. In its relative short existence, the Viper has dominated its share of races. This car was driven to victory by Karl Wendlinger, Dominique Dupuy and Olivier Beretta.
The original was a commissioned work that started with a question: “Have you ever painted a Viper?” To I replied, “I haven’t yet, but I haven’t found a car I couldn’t recreate in a painting.” It was a true pleasure working with the patron and creating this work.
