“Flying Dutchman – 1991”  is the second of two Son of Indy© originals thta feature Dutch racecar driver, Arie Luyendyk, winner of the 1990 and 1997 Indianapolis 500 races. The Flying Dutchman is a nickname for Arie who holds the the qualifying lap record of 237.498 mph (382.216 km/h) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during qualifying for the 1996 Indy 500.

This 1991 Indycar, Arie drove for Vince Granatelli, son of Andy Granatelli.

This painting and its companion piece (Flying Dutchman 1991) were donated to the charitable efforts of the 2016 Concourse in the Hills event.
